Important Notice for Indians in the UAE: Temporary Changes to Passport and Consular Services

The Indian Embassy has issued an important announcement affecting the Indian community in the UAE, including expatriate Malayalis. Temporary changes to the procedures for passport, visa, attestation, and other consular services at the Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General of India in Dubai have come into effect from July 2. The Embassy announced the new arrangements through an official press release.

Temporary Shift from Outsourced Services

Until now, consular services were being provided through outsourcing agencies such as BLS International and SGIVS Global. However, with the expiry of their contracts and the transition to the new service provider, Alhind Tours & Travels, the Embassy and the Consulate will temporarily provide limited consular services directly.

Walk-in System Introduced; No Appointments

Under the new arrangement, advance appointments will not be available. Instead, applicants must visit the Embassy or Consulate in person and obtain a token under a walk-in system.

Applications will be accepted on a First Come, First Served basis. Walk-in services will be available only between 9:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. at both the Abu Dhabi Embassy and the Dubai Consulate.

Applicants Must Bring Complete Documents

Applicants are required to submit a fully completed application form along with all necessary supporting documents. Applications will be accepted only after the prescribed fee has been paid.

To avoid overcrowding, only the applicant will be allowed inside the premises. However, parents accompanying applications for minor children will be permitted entry.

As part of the temporary arrangement, consular service fees will be accepted only in cash. Online payments and debit/credit cards will not be accepted until further notice.

Applicants are therefore advised to carry the exact amount required for their respective services. The same revised fee structure will also apply at the new Indian Consular Application Centres once they become operational.

Official Contact Channels Remain Active

Old Service Centres Closed; Follow Official Updates Only

The previous agency-operated service centres in Abu Dhabi and Dubai have been closed. The temporary arrangement will remain in place until Alhind Tours & Travels completes the setup of its operations.

The Embassy said that the official date for the launch of the new agency’s services will be announced later. It also urged the Indian community not to rely on rumours or misinformation circulating on social media or other unofficial sources, and to follow only updates issued through the official channels of the Embassy and the Consulate. Officials added that every effort is being made to minimise inconvenience caused by the temporary changes.

തെക്കൻ ഗുജറാത്ത് തീരം മുതൽ വടക്കൻ കേരള തീരം വരെ തീരദേശ ന്യൂനമർദ്ദ പാത്തി (Coastal Trough) നിലനിൽക്കുന്നതായി കേന്ദ്ര കാലാവസ്ഥ വകുപ്പ് (IMD) അറിയിച്ചു. ഇതിന്റെ സ്വാധീനത്തിൽ സംസ്ഥാനത്ത് അടുത്ത നാല് ദിവസങ്ങളിൽ വ്യാപകമായി മഴ ലഭിക്കുമെന്നാണ് പ്രവചനം. ചില പ്രദേശങ്ങളിൽ ശക്തമായതും അതിശക്തമായതുമായ മഴയ്ക്കും സാധ്യതയുണ്ടെന്ന് മുന്നറിയിപ്പിൽ പറയുന്നു. 

അതിതീവ്ര ന്യൂനമർദ്ദം പടിഞ്ഞാറോട്ട് നീങ്ങും 

നിലവിൽ പടിഞ്ഞാറൻ ഛത്തീസ്ഗഢ്, വിദർഭ, തെക്കുകിഴക്കൻ മധ്യപ്രദേശ് എന്നിവയ്ക്ക് മുകളിലായി അതിതീവ്ര ന്യൂനമർദ്ദം (Deep Depression) സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുകയാണ്. അടുത്ത 12 മണിക്കൂറിനിടെ ഇത് പടിഞ്ഞാറ് ദിശയിലേക്ക് നീങ്ങി ക്രമേണ തീവ്ര ന്യൂനമർദ്ദമായി (Depression) ദുർബലമാകാനാണ് സാധ്യത. തുടർന്ന് വിദർഭയിലൂടെയും തെക്കൻ മധ്യപ്രദേശിലൂടെയും പടിഞ്ഞാറ്-വടക്കുപടിഞ്ഞാറ് ദിശയിൽ സഞ്ചരിക്കുമെന്നാണ് കാലാവസ്ഥാ വകുപ്പിന്റെ വിലയിരുത്തൽ.

കേരളത്തിൽ നാല് ദിവസം മഴ

ജൂലൈ 30 മുതൽ ആഗസ്റ്റ് 2 വരെ കേരളത്തിൽ പൊതുവെ നേരിയതോ മിതമായതോ ആയ മഴയ്ക്ക് സാധ്യതയുണ്ട്. അറബിക്കടലിൽ നിന്നുള്ള ഈർപ്പമുള്ള കാറ്റും തീരദേശ ന്യൂനമർദ്ദ പാത്തിയുടെ സ്വാധീനവും ചേർന്നാണ് സംസ്ഥാനത്ത് മഴ ശക്തമാകാൻ അനുകൂല സാഹചര്യം രൂപപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നത്.

അതിശക്തമായ മഴയ്ക്ക് മുന്നറിയിപ്പ് (Very Heavy Rain)

ജൂലൈ 30 മുതൽ ആഗസ്റ്റ് 1 വരെ സംസ്ഥാനത്ത് ഒറ്റപ്പെട്ട സ്ഥലങ്ങളിൽ അതിശക്തമായ മഴ (Very Heavy Rain) ലഭിക്കാൻ സാധ്യതയുണ്ടെന്ന് കേന്ദ്ര കാലാവസ്ഥ വകുപ്പ് അറിയിച്ചു. കൂടാതെ ജൂലൈ 30 മുതൽ ആഗസ്റ്റ് 2 വരെ ഒറ്റപ്പെട്ട സ്ഥലങ്ങളിൽ ശക്തമായ മഴ (Heavy Rain) ലഭിക്കുമെന്നും മുന്നറിയിപ്പിൽ പറയുന്നു.

ശക്തമായ കാറ്റിനും സാധ്യത (Strong Wind)

മഴയ്‌ക്കൊപ്പം ജൂലൈ 30 മുതൽ ആഗസ്റ്റ് 1 വരെ മണിക്കൂറിൽ 40 മുതൽ 50 കിലോമീറ്റർ വരെ വേഗതയിൽ ശക്തമായ കാറ്റ് (Strong Surface Wind) വീശാൻ സാധ്യതയുണ്ട്. ഇടിമിന്നലോടുകൂടിയ മഴയുള്ള സമയങ്ങളിൽ കാറ്റിന്റെ ശക്തി വർധിക്കാനും സാധ്യതയുള്ളതിനാൽ പൊതുജനങ്ങൾ ജാഗ്രത പാലിക്കണമെന്ന് കാലാവസ്ഥ വകുപ്പ് നിർദേശിച്ചു.

ജാഗ്രത തുടരണമെന്ന് നിർദേശം

ശക്തമായ മഴയും കാറ്റും കണക്കിലെടുത്ത് താഴ്ന്ന പ്രദേശങ്ങളിൽ വെള്ളക്കെട്ട്, മലയോര മേഖലകളിൽ മണ്ണിടിച്ചിൽ സാധ്യത, ചെറുനദികളിലെയും തോടുകളിലെയും ജലനിരപ്പ് ഉയരൽ തുടങ്ങിയ സാഹചര്യങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ടാകാൻ സാധ്യതയുണ്ട്. അതിനാൽ കേന്ദ്ര കാലാവസ്ഥ വകുപ്പും സംസ്ഥാന ദുരന്തനിവാരണ അതോറിറ്റിയും പുറപ്പെടുവിക്കുന്ന മുന്നറിയിപ്പുകൾ പൊതുജനങ്ങൾ കൃത്യമായി പാലിക്കണമെന്ന് അധികൃതർ അഭ്യർഥിച്ചു.
