The tremor hit at 12:13 PM local time today, causing crowds to panic and evacuate buildings. No casualties or major damage are reported.

The earthquake’s epicentre was located offshore, triggering noticeable tremors across several coastal provinces and nearby inland areas. The shaking prompted residents to evacuate homes, offices, and commercial buildings as a precaution.
Local disaster risk reduction and management authorities have launched damage assessment operations to determine the impact on infrastructure, residential buildings, and public utilities. Officials have also urged the public to remain alert, warning that aftershocks are possible in the coming hours.
No tsunami warning was issued following the earthquake, and there were no immediate reports of fatalities, injuries, or significant structural damage at the time of reporting.

ഓഗസ്റ്റ് 13ന് തിരുവനന്തപുരം, കൊല്ലം, ആലപ്പുഴ, പാലക്കാട്, മലപ്പുറം ജില്ലകളിലൊഴികെ മറ്റ് ജില്ലകളിൽ ഒറ്റപ്പെട്ട ശക്തമായ മഴയ്ക്ക് സാധ്യതയുണ്ട്. പത്തനംതിട്ട, കോട്ടയം, എറണാകുളം, ഇടുക്കി, തൃശൂർ, കോഴിക്കോട്, വയനാട്, കണ്ണൂർ, കാസർഗോഡ് ജില്ലകളിലാണ് 13ന് ഒറ്റപ്പെട്ട ശക്തമായ മഴയ്ക്ക് സാധ്യത. ഇതോടൊപ്പം ആലപ്പുഴ, പാലക്കാട്, മലപ്പുറം ഉൾപ്പെടെയുള്ള ജില്ലകളിൽ നേരിയതോ മിതമായതോ ആയ മഴയും പ്രതീക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.

15 മുതൽ മഴയുടെ ശക്തി കുറയും
ഓഗസ്റ്റ് 15 മുതൽ 17 വരെ സംസ്ഥാനത്തെ എല്ലാ ജില്ലകളിലും പൊതുവെ നേരിയതോ മിതമായതോ ആയ മഴ മാത്രമാണ് പ്രവചിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. ഈ ദിവസങ്ങളിൽ ഒറ്റപ്പെട്ട ശക്തമായ മഴയ്ക്കുള്ള പ്രത്യേക സാധ്യത പ്രവചനത്തിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടുത്തിയിട്ടില്ല.
